Ken Rosenthal reports (via Twitter). Cruz had previously been represented by WMG?s Adam Katz. Though Cruz and the Orioles are on their way to the ALCS, the 34-year-old slugger is clearly preparing himself for free agency this winter. Cruz received only a one-year, $8MM deal from Baltimore on the open market last offseason as his value was depressed by a PED suspension, his age and the first-round draft pick compensation tied to him via the qualifying offer. After hitting 40 homers with a .859 OPS in 2014, however, Cruz looks in good shape to score a multiyear deal even though the O?s will surely tag him with the qualifying offer. Relativity?s list of baseball clients includes such major names as David Ortiz, Miguel Cabrera, Justin Verlander, Andrelton Simmons, Jordan Zimmermann, Julio Teheran, Paul Goldschmidt, Madison Bumgarner and Jhonny Peralta. As ESPN?s Enrique Rojas tweets (in Spanish), Peralta received a four-year, $53MM deal from the Cardinals last winter despite his own ties to the Biogenesis scandal, though Peralta didn?t have draft pick compensation hanging over him. For more on who represents who around the baseball world, check out the MLBTR Agency Database. Maybe his old agent was actually dragging his feet with the Orioles negotiations. baltfan
Give him a QO and let him walk. Rotate Pierce and Davis at 1B and DH. Put De Aza in left.
BohKnowsBmore
Well with all this time off what else is there to do?!! It's not just thread-starters here, the players are getting antsy in their downtime! They want/need some Orioles baseball!
AlbionHero
Give him a QO and let him walk. Rotate Pierce and Davis at 1B and DH. Put De Aza in left. I'd rather give Cruz the contract and non tender Davis. Cruz will likely only be a couple more million dollars than Davis would be, while giving far more production. If he bounces back next year at least to a .230 30 homer guy, he will be worth what he will get in arbitration. You then have the option of giving him a qualifying offer or letting him walk. Heck, you may get lucky and he might have a 40 homer type of year. How many 50+ homer guys just fall off the face of the earth? This was a down year for Chris. He isn't near this bad. canonfaz
Wow. This happening would be really insane. I get nervous with all these 30+ players being signed, but it sure is exciting.

The good thing for us is that Davis didn't wait until his giant contract to become terrible.
